Horses, like a lot of other animals, develop strong bonds among themselves within any setting wild or domestic. It might be with another horse or horses or another animal of even a human. They have a need for companionship, leadership and security which is gained from their pasture mates or barn buddies. This relates to their survival instincts, herd structures and how they respond to us. This painting is just two horses that share that bond and give each other the sense that they are not alone. We all need a little of that, right?
